Late summer day hiking up and down Canajoharie creek with the family. This is taken a little ways before the main falls. This image is 3 photos combined to increase dynamic range, visual interest and accuracy of the scene as I lived it.
Sunrise at Pololu Valley

Traveling around the north tip of Hawaii along the often windy, winding and hilly north road rt270 past Hawi, where by the way, there is an awesome Kava and fudge shop, brings you to the end of the road and a magnificent vista called Pololu valley. We arrived at sunset (not the best time for pics here) but came back the next morning at sunrise to try and capture the best light. It payed off. After a few successful shots at the top, we hiked down a steep trail to the beach 400 ft below. It was well worth it as the views from the trail and the ones from the bottom were just as breathtaking. From the bottom the trail continues slowly southward meandering through several valleys before ending short of Waipio valley, the last valley you can drive to from the south. Some day I'll have to do that hike.
The rock cairns are assembled by people to mark trails or just as a creative outlet. This image is 3 photos combined to increase dynamic range, visual interest and accuracy of the scene as I lived it.

This photo was taken on a hike along the
Pihea trail between the Pu u o Kila lookout and the Alakai Swamp (the highest
swampland in the world leading up to the rainiest spot on Earth 450+ inches of
rainfall per year avg.) The fog rolled away for a few moments to allow me to
take this photo handheld and is 2 pictures stitched together vertically up the
center to make a higher resolution image.

Twice a year for about a week each time, this alignment between sun and bridge is possible from this location in East Islip. The cloud patterns generally determine the final outcome of the shot.
White Ibis at Fort Desoto

This was taken in the north lagoon in Fort Desoto, Florida last year. I learned of this place from Arthur Morris's web site.
I was out wading in the water, going after whatever happened to be around and this Ibis came around and fed long enough for me to get a decent shot.
